Cows in general

Post by Kayz »

Here I want to speak about our best friend: The mad cows.

I got a general question first.

I saw a replay when PiNK played Rafka. He used cows on him and one cow went up a hill, which was very ascending steep.

I always thought cows can walk until 45

I tried it offline several times on THIS map.

Sometimes the cows walked up, sometimes they exploded on the point PiNK showed.

So there must be a difference, how a cow walks or falls.

Maybe you should check this theory for hills situations:
*If height at next frame is 5 or more pixels higher than height at this frame, cow won't go any further and will explode in the next frame*.

But then why it sometimes explodes and sometimes not? Does it depend on the starting position of the cow?

Cows exploding has nothing to do with 45 degree angle:

"After release, a cow walks at a horizontal rate of 2 pixels per frame along the ground, and will explode if it hits a wall which is 5 pixels higher than its present walking surface. A cow will jump if it reaches a drop more than 4 pixels lower than its present walking surface. The mad cow jumps at a 45

Now we will get people bitching about luck with cows just because they read this. The funny part is that they'll think it was "luck" when a cow explodes on a 10px wall :P (same thing happens with mine/dyna hatting sub-pixel alignment, I see people miss a drop by 3 pixels and blame it on sub-pixel alignment, ha).

Here you can see a turning cow. Wriggler said there is a 6.25% chance. Lucky me. The worm was like a wall for the cow, so it turned around.
